We Often Get Asked!

“How Do I Care For My Himalayan Salt Lamp”?  Or What Is The Best Way To Look After Salt Lamps”?

The Best way to care for your salt lamps and for the best results, we recommend leaving the Himalayan Salt Lamp on 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

*Always keep dry, leave on.... All day.... Everyday...!

*Salt Lamps should never be sprinkled with water, allow the heat of the salt lamp to keep them dry.

*Do not take the Salt Lamp outside, if you choose to do so for entertaining, once you are done for the night, make sure you bring the Salt Lamp back inside and light up.

*Leave lamp on as the heat from the light globe will help generate the negative ions whilst stopping the lamps from absorbing water.

*Sometimes in particularly moist or humid conditions the lamp surface may be slightly damp, they are safe to wipe clean with a damp cloth and leave on.

*If the salt lamp is not being used for a period or you go away, switch off the salt lamp, remove cord and globe, cover the salt lamp with a plastic bag to prevent moisture being absorbed.

*Always turn off the power while changing the light globe or moving the Salt Lamp.

*Replace light globe with a Forever Exotic 15watt oven globe, they tend to have a lot more life spam on them, than just your normal light globe.

*All salt lamps have a beautiful light and can be used as a night light.

Things to be mindful of!

High levels of humidity in the air can cause the salt lamp to begin to Cry (Sweat).

Salt lamps may create puddles of water due to being hygroscopic, if they are switch off for a period of time and may damage some surfaces.

Salt is hygroscopic, it absorbs water, in humid areas, this can cause the salt lamp to cry (sweat) and may cause the water to drip down onto the surface where the salt lamp is.

A simple solution to this, is to leave your salt lamp on 24/7, as the heat from the lamp keeps the salt lamp dry, while releasing negative ions into the room.

You can space them around your house while still receiving the same air purification benefits.

Salt lamps provide health benefits – may help people with Asthma, Hay Fever, Depression, Chronic Fatigue, sleeping problems, Sinus, Migraines, Headaches, Allergies, helps with your immune system, Concentration, Colds and flu and increases your lung capacity to help you breathe with ease.

Having a salt lamp in any room gives off a soft and warm glow that creates a pleasant atmosphere helping you experience calmness and peace.
Safety Tips:

*Always unplug the Salt Lamp before changing the light globe to prevent electric shock or light globe fusing.

Never turn the salt lamp on unless the light globe is properly inserted into the cavity of the lamp as the movement of the light globe, which may cause the light globe to blow out.

*We recommend NOT to use dimmer switches as you need the heat to release negative ions into the air.

*If you are buying a Himalayan Salt Lamp for the bedroom, we suggest buying a darker Salt Lamp as the light is more subdued.

What Is the Recommended Wattage To Use In A Salt Lamp?

*At Forever Exotic we use a 12watt oven globe, they tend to have a lot more life spam on them than just your normal light globe.

*Eventually they will pop… It is just the nature of the light globes, but here are a few tips…

*Leave on 24/7.

*Try not to use the on and off switch.

*If moving the salt lamp from one room to another switch off, wait for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the light globe to cool down, then move, otherwise you will knock the element of the globe and it will not work anymore.
